It's been weeks since her and Laura had a proper conversation. Ever since their argument over children. Rae's news, though she was completely delighted for her friend, had only made her own feelings worse. It's not been anything more than a polite greeting and meaningless small talk. Katie had always worn her heart on her sleeve, it was her greatest weakness, she could never hide anything she was feeling. And before now, had never wanted to.

In a city like this, with both of them having different jobs to worry about and a different circle of friends it was surprisingly easy to completely avoid someone you were living with. But she's tired of doing that. She'd emailed Laura earlier and asked her to come home for dinner. She'd spent the afternoon cooking and now everything was finally ready. It was time to face up to things.

Katie had already picked out her dinner of vegetable lasagne and looked around the messhall for somewhere to sit. Most of the tables were taken, and she couldn't spot any of her closer friends. Usually she had no problem joining in a group of people, but tonight she felt like something quieter. So she sat down on one of the only empty tables. It took her a moment to realise it was the same one Saera had thrown her down on the other night and she blushed at the memory before starting on her food.

She lay cuddled up naked with Laura, both of them thoroughly satiated. One of her hands rests lightly on Laura's breast, the other is tangled up in her beautiful strawberry blonde hair.

"I always tried to grow my hair long, but it never seems to work." She complains lightly, nuzzling into her lover.

She's silent for a few moments as she thinks of the best way to breach the next topic. "David bought a little girl in to the lab with him today. Major Lorne found her abandonned after a Wraith attack and they're looking after her. She's a cute kid. Lots of enthusiasm and energy."

It's been a slow day at work today and this is something I came across that lookes like fun.

Katie sent the email and grabbed the stack of vouchers made for Saera. They were on a similar theme but the pictures were even more explicit and all of her and Laura. They'd had a lot of fun taking them.

She walked over to Saera's quarters. Knowing the chemist would still be in the labs, she let herself in. She put the vouchers on the desk, the first place she always went to when she got home and added a little note on top.

Katie walked from her lab to the meeting room, for the weekly biology meeting. They were supposed to be a way of keeping in touch with everyone's research and a forum for generating new ideas They were inevitably dull affairs with everyone talking at once, no-one listening and nothing ever being accomplished.

She'd complained about it to Laura a while ago, who'd come up with a rather interesting way to keep her entertained. She smiled as she walked in. There were already a few people milling about so she couldn't check if Laura had managed to make it.

Katie was just standing idly under the shower. It'd been a long day and she was far to tired to actually move. But the spray was turned on full and she let the hot stream work out the aches in the muscles of her shoulders and back, as well as wash away the yellow and red gunge that had splattered all over her.

Stackhouse's team had found a plant which looked like it could belong to the Asclepias rubra genus, which the local folks had used for it's anaesthetic properties. It didn't react well to their tests though and had shot the stuff at her. Some sort of natural defense, which was probably more effective against smaller animals. It had left parts of her skin numb, so apparently it works. She thought bitterly, still hoping the residue would wash out of her hair.

It's been a busy couple of weeks and we're all pretty wound up, I think it's time for another Poker Night. Today, 1900, my quarters. Same deal as before - everyone welcome, screw the "girls only" rule. anyone who wants to come is more than welcome. Bring your friends and partners - the more the merrier. And any language is welcome ;) I think most of us can manage. I'll see you all tonight. Or I'll hunt you down and irritate you forever. You have been warned.

David's not been in the lab recently, she knows that he's working on some project with Rae. Several times she's wanted to search him out but was worried she wouldn't know what to say. If it had been Laura...nothing anyone would say would have made a difference. At least he still has Major Lorne. She doesn't want to use up any time they could be spending comforting each other. Still it's been several days and she thinks she should at least check in.

How are you doing? Actually scrap that, it's a pretty stupid question. I just wanted you to know, if you need anything. Or just someone to talk to, I'm here.

And I really am sorry. I know we haven't always agreed on him but Laura said that he dealt with it much better than he would have expected from a civilian scientist and that he was the reason they got out of there. I guess we all owe him.

Katie walked back in the to the infirmary only a couple of hours after Dr. Beckett had chased her away telling her to get sleep and food. But he'd also promised she could take Laura home today. Unable to wait anymore she thought she'd try her luck a little earlier.

Seeing Dr. Peterson alone at a desk writing in some notes, she went up to her, hoping she might be more sympathetic.

"Morning Adrienne, so have you managed to patch Laura up enough for her to leave yet?" She asked with a smile.
